A seven-year-old girl identified as Angel Ngum has died after her hands were chopped off following the explosion of an improvised explosive device in Kumba, in the restive South West region Thursday March 25.
The device is said to have detonated in the Kossala neighbourhood in Kumba at a place where little Angel was cracking coconuts.
The child had her hands chopped off and was rushed to the Kumba District Hospital and later evacuated to Mutengene for intensive care.
Little Angel finally succumbed to her state earlier today.
Before her demise, the Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong visited the family in the hospital and promised that the State would take charge of hospital bills.
He equally told the family a military hunt would be launched to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The detonation of explosive devices has been recurrent in the two English speaking regions of the country and most of the times attributed to Ambazonia fighters.
